Ghorepani Poonhill Trek has quickly established itself as one of the popular trekking routes in Nepal. This trek will take you through the Magar and Gurung beautiful village of Ghorepani and Poonhill, where you will watch the panoramic view of the sunrise as well as the stunning view of a number of mountains.

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek falls under the Annapurna Conservation Area. For much of the trekking route you will negotiate with serious uphill climbs through rhododendron forests and stone staircases. The numerous tea houses that provide lodging and food to trekkers along the way show how the area has grown into a major destination for trekkers.

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek starts at Nayapul (which lies at an altitude of almost 1000 meters) and after a few days into the trek you will reach the much heard of village of Ghorepani, which derives its name from the fact that ancient traders fed water (pani in Nepali) to their horses (Ghora in Nepali) in this place Ghorepani.

Early next morning you will be making a short detour to the nearby Poon Hill, one of the major highlights of Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking. The spectacular sunrise view of such mountains as Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre will make the early morning rise and hike up the steep route worth it. Very few spots can provide such wide panoramic view of some of the most well known mountains of Nepal. Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, one of our representatives will be there at the airport to welcome you to Nepal, pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. Stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Kathmandu is often known as the City of Temples. So, you can find some of the best examples of cultural heritages that have also been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Sites. Explore Pashupatinath Temple premises, Boudhanath Stupa and Monastery, The Monkey Temple (Swayambhunath), Patan Durbar Square, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Stay overnight at a hotel.

After having our morning breakfast, we take a drive to Pokhara which takes around seven hours. You can also take a morning flight to Pokhara as well, which takes just around 30 minutes. Check-in to the guesthouse in Pokhara, have dinner and stay overnight.

In the morning, we take a short drive (about an hour) to Nayapul, which is going to be the starting point of this trek. From Nayapul, we walk along the Modi Khola and follow the way through Birethanti (1015m), and Hille (1495m) to eventually reach Tikhedhunga (1577m). We stay overnight at a local guesthouse.

Today, we move on from Tikhedhunga towards the steep climb to Ulleri (2070). You can intersperse into the large Magar settlements at Ulleri. From Ulleri, we ascend more gently through the fine forests of rhododendrons and oaks. After walking for a couple of hours from Banthanti, we eventually reach at Ghorepani where we stay overnight at a guesthouse.

We have to wake up early in the morning today as we've to hike up to Poon Hill, probably the best viewpoint in the Annapurna Region. Here at Poon Hill, we catch the panorama of the beautiful peaks including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Often been touted as the Photographer's Paradise, don't miss out to take some of the best snaps of this entire trip from Poon Hill during sunrise. That being said, sunset views from this hill top are equally rewarding the phenomenal. Spend few to at Poon Hill and then return back to Ghorepani. After having breakfast at Ghorepani, we again continue out walk towards Tadapani. Ascending towards Deurali, and descending again, we eventually reach at Tadapani, where we stay overnight at a local guesthouse.

From Tadapani, we descend through the forests while following the trail to Ghandruk—aka the biggest Gurung Settlement in the country. Take your time to explore the typical culture and lifestyle of ethnic Gurung people and interact with local people. Ghandruk also offers some of the magnificent views of mountains. Stay overnight at a local guesthouse.

As today is going to be the final day for trekking, we slowly follow our trail back to Nayapul from Ghandruk. Once we reach at Nayapul, we can take a short drive back to Pokhara. Check-in to the hotel and stay overnight.

It's worth spending one more day at Pokhara, one of the most popular touristic destinations of Nepal. We spend the entire day exploring the major attractions of the city. Early in the morning, drive up to Sarangkot to catch the beautiful sunrise views. After spending little time at Sarangkot, return back to Pokhara and visit Bindhawasini Temple, Bat Cave, Mahendra Cave, Davis' Falls. And have fantastic time boating at Phewa Lake as well. If time allows, you can go for shopping in Pokhara. Stay overnight at a guesthouse.

We drive back to Kathmandu again. And once you are back to Kathmandu, you can take you remaining time for last-minute shopping or utilize the time exploring around the city. Join the Farewell dinner with the team in the evening and stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Your last day in Kathmandu! You can either continue your new trip to some other destination or just take the returning flight back to your home town. We will accompany you to the airport.
