Gokyo Renjo La Trek starts with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla – the gateway to Everest and Khumbu Region. From Lukla, we begin to trek following the trail which descends for a while before climbing up onto a ridge, passing through Phakding we head towards Namche Bazaar – the Sherpa Capital. We take a day’s rest at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and exploring around Namche and to be physically fit for ascending towards more altitude.
We continue to follow the trail that leads to Thame. After resting a day at Thame the trail heads up through a number of villages offering the best views of landscapes and mountains towards Lungden.
From Lungden we follow the trail towards Gokyo crossing the adventurous and challenging Renjo La Pass 5435m. At Gokyo, we make an early morning hike up to Gokyo Ri 5483m, from where we get the close views of Mt. Everest 8848m, Mt. Lhotse 8516m, Mt. Makalu 8481m, Mt. Cho Oyu 8201m and other surrounding snow-topped peaks.
